There's a new Spring Soccer league for players in 10U - 19U! It starts imminently, so register now, and balanced teams will be assigned based on how many parents coach and referee. Games run from March through early May, and the games are all around the San Gabriel Valley, with teams of similar ability from other AYSO regions. It'll be fun!

The AYSO Expo comes to the Pasadena Convention Center, March 16-19. Hundreds and hundreds of soccer parents from California and Arizona will be there. There's a 2-part workshop on training goalkeepers, a seminar titled Tactical formations and systems of play 11 v 11, and even Newer concepts in referee positioning. Write to expo@ayso13.org if you'd like to attend, or if you can volunteer to help check people in. This is a great way to do your part to contribute to AYSO.

Message from the commissioner

My 2-year term as Commissioner of Region 13 comes to an end this month. It's been quite an adventure, restarting the program after the pandemic, and I'm proud of how so many people stepped up to make it all happen. Being a soccer parent is a rite of passage, and I'm glad we could all do it together!

On January 16, the Region 13 Board of Directors voted unanimously to name Terry Takahashi the new Regional Commissioner. Terry has diligently served Region 13 during the past 8 years as a coach, referee, division coordinator, and most recently, as the Regional Coach Administrator, overseeing all aspects of coaching and team operations. He comes from a family of dedicated AYSO volunteers - his father was a Regional Commissioner, Area Director, and then Director of Section 7, Hawai’i. Given Terry’s experience in management and his passion for the game, Region 13 will be in good hands with Terry. Please congratulate and thank him when you see him!
