Dear Birdsong community,

Thanks again for being part of Birdsong’s relaunch journey. A couple of weeks ago, we shared the first chapter of our revival story – and today there’s a tangible, exciting update.​

This week we sourced our first micro‑batch of “rescued from landfill” hoodies: 30 x oversized, soft‑fleece draw‑string hoodies in a stone colourway, (very close to the background colour of this email) in sizes ranging from 8 - 16.

Rather than adding more new stock into the world, we’re starting by working with what already exists.​

We also spent time at Bow Sewing Centre with Mona, exploring how to elevate these pieces with beautiful, bespoke embroidery. Together, we rediscovered some of Birdsong’s most loved designs – including Resist & Persist, Optimist, and Still I Rise – and experimented with placement, colour and stitches to make each hoodie feel genuinely one‑of‑a‑kind ♻️

    

The backstory to this design is that "Resist” signals refusal to accept the status quo – from sweatshop labour and environmental damage to everyday sexism. It aligns with Birdsong’s commitment to fair wages and local, ethical production. “Persist” reflects continuing the struggle even when the industry, funding cuts, or social pressures make it hard

We are eternal optimists, and if you too believe in change and that the world can be made better, then this design is for you - it will help you feel more hopeful, and project a little Optimism into the world.

Next steps

We're meeting up with Mona at Bow Sewing Centre next week to style the first of the Hoodies with these beautiful embroidered designs.
