Mobile Food Pantries

UCCA sponsors the Northern Illinois Food Bank’s Mobile Food Pantry at Churchville Middle School, inviting Elmhurst District 205 families (and anyone in the area in need of groceries) to “shop” for meats, vegetables and other groceries, as well as cleaning products, many times throughout the year. We need volunteers to help us sort the food as it comes off the truck and then load the food into people’s cars.

Mobile Food Pantries are held from 10:00-11:30 am at Churchville Middle School,

155 Victory Parkway, Elmhurst, IL 60126.

Join UCCA for the

2023 CROP Hunger Walk

October 1st

Registration from 12:30-1:00 pm; Walk starts at 1:15 pm

First Church of Lombard UCC
220 South Main Street, Lombard

Bring the family - bounce house and games for all ages!
WEAR ORANGE!

We will walk a 3-mile route on the Prairie Path and Great Western Trail, starting and finishing at First Church of Lombard.

25% of the funds raised will benefit UCCA and local organizations providing hunger relief, and the remaining 75% will help fight worldwide hunger.

UCCA’s 45th Annual Holiday Food Drive

It’s not too early to start planning how you can support our annual Holiday Food Drive!

You can donate non-perishable food items or food gift cards October 23 - November 17. Our most needed items are peanut butter, jelly, pasta sauce, canned fruits, canned meats, and cereal. District 205 students will have collection boxes at their schools, and in addition, you can drop off canned goods and other staples at area locations.

Food Gift Cards can be sent to UCCA, PO Box 324, Elmhurst, IL 60126 or you can donate Virtual Food Gift Cards online.

Volunteers with muscle are needed to help with the Annual Holiday Food Drive. We sort and pack food November 27 and 28, from 9am to 3pm at the Elmhurst Public Works Garage, 985 S. Riverside Dr.

Delivery drivers are needed to distribute food boxes on Saturday, December 9th at 8am from the Elmhurst Public Works Garage.

We need Spanish speaking volunteers to help us:

make reminder phone calls to our families regarding Turkeys on Tables and the Holiday Food Drive
distribute holiday food boxes on December 9th
help out at our mobile food pantries

Spirit of Volunteerism Award
Presented to Ralph Westendorf

Ralph Westendorf was recently honored with the Mary Jo Corbett Spirit of Volunteerism Award. Ralph is a hard-working volunteer for UCCA and is the perfect example of volunteerism. He has been the liaison between UCCA and the city of Elmhurst for years, coordinating our use of the City Garage for food packing. In addition, in the early days, he would map out the directions for all of our holiday food drive deliveries. He continues to help organize and work all of our mobile food pantries.
