One of the neatest things that has come out of work as a writer was the discovery that a grade 7 teacher in my province has been using my book as a read-aloud for her class. She started using it last year, and it went over so well that she decided to use it again this year!
The class finished reading it shortly before the release of When Darkness Blinds, and they were so excited about the sequel that they decided to hold their own book launch party for it.
The students printed the cover of book two along with the prologue + chapter 1 for their teacher to read to them. They also put up a bulletin board with their predictions for book two.
I offered to join the class for a Q&A over Zoom, which we did last week. There was some trouble with the audio, but it was so neat to hear all of their questions, and I am greatly honoured by their enthusiasm and excitement for this series!
