How Does This All End?
“Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.” This quote from Roman Philosopher Seneca (and late 90’s rockers Semisonic) describes what many soccer families are feeling in Week 10 of the fall season. This is a time of living in the moment and keeping an eye on the future, while everyone looks ahead to more soccer over winter and spring.
In practical terms, here’s what comes next:

Looking Forward to Winter Stars
Winter Stars is a casual soccer program in January and February, developed for those players who enjoyed the fall season so much that they want to keep playing soccer through the winter with their friends. Players are divided into groups by age and experience (but generally not gender). Coaches run training programs and then supervise scrimmage games between various groups. There are no other practices and no permanent teams.
Winter Stars is open to players of all ages, from 6U to 19U. This year, it will start on Sunday January 11 and run for eight weeks, planning to finish on Sunday, March 1.
For 8U Players Moving Up: Grad Series
Grad Series is a thrilling 8-week program designed for players moving up from 8U to 10U (born in 2015 or just finished a season in 8U). Players experience real 10U soccer with 7v7 games on a 10U-sized field with goals, goalkeepers, and all the official Laws of the Game, including offside.
All sessions will take place on Saturdays in January through March, with a 45-minute practice followed by a 50-minute game, all in one fun, fast-paced session! Grad Series is one of our most popular programs. It’s a fun, supportive, and confidence-building way to prepare for the jump to 10U soccer. Spots fill quickly, and registration is first-come, first-served.,
Priority is given to coaches and referees—the best way to make sure your player participates is by volunteering.
FINAL All-Star Tryouts for Boys 12U & 14U
The final Boys 12U and 14U All-Star tryouts are NEXT SUNDAY, November 16 at Rose Bowl Area H.
If your player was unable to attend the first tryout, it is highly recommended that they attend. Players are chosen based on a combination of many factors, in addition to tryouts: performance during the fall season, team needs, age, roster limits, commitment to extra practices and games, and family volunteerism. Unfortunately, not every deserving player can be placed on a team, and decisions are never easy. Coaches will evaluate each player fairly, and no matter what, we hope that every player will continue to stay enthusiastic about playing soccer.

The Sunday Skills program continues this Sunday from 3:30–5pm at the La Canada High School JV fields. Open to enthusiastic players of all ages seeking additional play, Sunday Skills is run by professional coaches from Launch Sports.

This family-friendly night is an opportunity for the entire community to gather, look back at another incredible fall season, send heartfelt thanks to our tireless volunteers, and recognize everyone who made soccer happen in 2025.

Project Play Youth Sports Survey
Project Play is conducting a National Youth Survey to gather feedback from young people on their feelings about sports. This survey covers a range of topics, including current participation, interest in trying new sports, and much more. No personally identifiable info is collected.

A few weeks back, we shared exciting news about the LA Galaxy and City National Bank presenting Region 13 with $25,000 worth of tickets to matches in the upcoming 2026 season. To show our gratitude, we hit the fields a few weeks back and captured Region 13 players sending big thanks to City National Bank and the Galaxy. I can’t wait to join our young soccer players in watching the beautiful game being played at the highest level, in person, next season.
