Whether you've been to every event, or you're just now getting involved, we're here to help! To make the most of this newsletter, feel free to skim the highlights below or deep dive into all the latest news and updates. We've included some tips and tools for the giving season and new events to kick off the new year with a purpose! Giving Season Resources
Check out the EA community's top resources for donors looking to give before the new year!Personal takesKyle Luchesse shared their giving story, Michael Townsend wrote about their thoughts on their Giving What We Can (GWWC) Pledge, Lizka Vaintrob shared thoughts on not taking the GWWC pledge, and Jeff Kaufman made an "Ask Me Anything" on Earning to Give. You can also read more about the community's thoughts on this year's giving season here!Resources from organizationsGiving What We Can released a personal donation recommendation tool, new recommendations, a donation lottery, and updated cause area funds (including a Risks and Resilience Fund that combines Longview Philanthropy's Emerging Challenges Fund and EA Funds' Long-Term Future Fund). The EA Forum Team has also finalized the donation election candidates for 2023! Summary of giving recommendationsIf you're ever looking to make a donation and don't know where to start, book a call with us! ConferencesThe Centre for Effective Altruism (in association with other groups) has some special events coming up in the months ahead! EAGxLATAM Returns to Mexico CityNow in its second year, EAGxLATAM will take place February 16th-18th in Mexico City. In addition to those in the Latin American region, the event is open to other North American applicants (including those who don't speak Spanish!). Alex went to their last conference (earlier this year) and was glad to have met a bunch of incredible people! You can find out more about the event on their website here.EA Global Conferences in 2024The Centre for Effective Altruism also recently announced its plans for EAG conferences next year:EAG Bay Area: Global Catastrophic Risks will be the first EA Global conference tailored to a specific theme. Running from February 2 - 4, the event will be most valuable to participants working on AI risks, biosecurity, and other global catastrophic risks, as well as relevant cross-cause areas such as work in policy and community building. Regardless of background, all are still welcome to apply here. EAG London 2024 will be a "more traditional" EA Global conference with about 50% of the event's content focused on material other than AI / Global Catastrophic Risks. As with all EAG conferences, participants will have ample opportunities for networking and building connections with the other attendees. Apply here to join the conference from May 31 - June 2.

- This program is a way for people to come together over a Shabbat meal to connect with new people and explore topics relevant to effective altruism and Jewish tradition. Apply here to either attend or host an in-person dinner.
External Virtual Events Fellowships and programsApplications are open for the AI Safety Fundamentals Alignment course until February 7th. You can find out more about the program and the related AI Safety Fundamentals Governance course on their website. EA Virtual Programs
Virtual programs on EA topics: A new round of EA Virtual Programs will run from February 5th to March 31st. These free, 8-week courses cover topics in effective altruism and require around a 3-hour commitment per week. They include the Introductory Program, the In-Depth Program, and the Precipice Reading Group. Apply by January 14th.
