Newsletter - February 2025 |
Welcome to our February 2025 newsletter. This month we have news on the future of the LMC's interface work, which we know is valued by many practices. We're heading into a busy season of LMC events, and you'll find information and booking links for our forthcoming conferences in this edition. And our new appointment data item demonstrates the reality of general practice's workload - let us have your comments if you find it useful.

Supporting Practices with Interface Issues
We want to wish our Interface Officer Simon Nichols well as he leaves the LMC at the start of March. Simon will take up an exciting new research role for an AI health tech start up company that supports people with long-term conditions. Simon has worked hard over the time he’s been here to improve the LMCs' interface work, tackling this across all providers and delivering on our interface strategy. We know he’s been a welcome face at many of our local events, and a great source of contact for our constituents. We’re sure he will have great success in his future career.
We are keen to continue the work the Interface Officer role was created for, against a backdrop of changes to the landscape around collective action and how the ICS commissions services. We’re therefore delighted that Madeleine Clifford-Roper will be leading on interface work in the future. She takes this on as an existing part of our management team, and alongside her work supporting our practice managers. Many of you know Maddie well and know she will be a strong advocate for you in this space. Her management experience will allow her to speak for constituents at senior levels across the system. You can contact Maddie with any interface queries or concerns by emailing humberside.lmcgroup@nhs.net.

LES Review All practices should now have received the final specifications for the local enhanced services that are available for sign-up to commence from 1st April. There has been a range of communication regarding these, and we would encourage all practices to read each specification carefully alongside reviewing the costings to understand where the additional investment sits. All reporting will be via Ardens which has been fully funded on a recurrent basis as part of this piece of work, hopefully reducing the workload required to claim for the services delivered.
There will be a series of webinars arranged by the ICB to go through each contract in detail over the coming weeks, and we would encourage GPs and PMs to attend these. There is an acknowledgement from the ICB that not all the specifications will be able to go live on 1st April, as training or equipment may be required so a staggered start across Q1-4 is expected. Some other existing local enhanced services that are Place specific, sit outside this review and will continue for this current year with decisions made during 25/26 about the longer-term options. Minor surgery now sits under a national DES contract so has also not been included. If you have questions around the LES contracts that the LMC can help with, please feel free to get in touch.
