Team pictures will be sent to coaches in a few weeks. Coaches will then be able to share the links with team families.

Trophies for 4U & 5U can be picked up by parents at the clubhouse . Trophies for 6U, 7U, 8U can be picked up by coach (or designee) once player ratings have been completed. For times when you can get them, see the signup sheet  (you do not need to sign up).

The Rose City Cup starts Dec 7 -- game times depend on the final standings, which will only be known at the end of day on Nov 23. A mad rush will then start to arrange a schedule that avoids a need for faster-than-light travel. It will be posted at ayso13.org/rosecity. The schedule there now is based on incomplete season rankings and is not correct.

Fundraisers

Get a pizza delivered to, or pick it up near the Pasadena Playhouse. ayso13.org/pizza. A portion of every sale is donated to Region 13.

Plan for takeout on Wednesday, Dec 4, when a portion of sales at Shake Shack will be donated to Region 13.

Help Region 13 by volunteering for the Thanksgiving Tournament. Just a couple hours of your time helps Region 13 meet its annual operating budget.

Coaches

If the score is lopsided, what can you do to make the time fun for everyone? Here are some ideas

• Early on in the game, move your scorers to defense or goalkeeper
• Give weaker players more playing time
• Individual constraint, like 2-touch only, pass or shoot with your weak foot only
• A group task, like connect 5 passes before shooting, or switch the field twice
• Shoot from outside the penalty area only
• The team will start trying to get their friends to score their first ever goals. Leave some pop-up goals behind the goal, and tell the team that it only counts toward their season tally if they score in the pop-ups outside the main goal.

You can also decide to end the game early, the referees can leave, you can mix up the teams, and play a scrimmage with the remaining time.

Positive coaching

Do you like having your failures pointed out to you? Me neither!

Everyone wins when kids want to come back and play soccer again next year. Tthat's why Positive Coaching is one of AYSO's philosophies. It feels good to be praised for what you do well, and it's been proven time and again to be the most effective way to help young athletes become internally motivated. AYSO coaches are trained to look for strengths in every player, and reward and build on them.
