Entering a Season of Celebration with EA NYC
AppreciationWe're incredibly grateful to
Arthur for leading the (wonderful) team in pulling off NYC's first EAGx conference this August. You can find the recently released
conference retrospective here to see our take on how it went (TL;DR: it was great!).
In September, we also celebrated the
40th anniversary of the day the world did not end. Because of this, we are able to look forward to more EA NYC celebrations yet to come in 2023!
AnticipationIn addition to a number of really excellent events coming up (check out the
*almost* complete list below), we'll have two more general themes of celebration this year:
Giving Tuesday is a global holiday celebrating the power of generosity. This year, we'll have
speakers and
panels from NY and abroad sharing how they think about using their resources to help others. And of course, we'll also have a
special community celebration on Giving Tuesday (November 28th) itself!
December marks the end of 2023 and a new chapter for 2024. While we plan on having many more events in the new year, we wanted to provide space for the community to come together and mingle as the days grow colder and the nights grow longer. We anticipate our
Community End of Year Celebration to be the largest event of the quarter, and we encourage you to
sign up and remind your friends to do the same.
What's New on the EA Forum
September featured two special focus weeks on the EA Forum:Career Conversations Week:AI Pause Debate week:Scott Alexander summarizes better than I could many of the different positions on an AI pause that were discussed. You can find more posts about the debate under
this tag/topic.
New features on the ForumCheck out the
latest updates to the EA Forum, including a new page that tries to distill the "
Best of the Forum" into more manageable (and more visually appealing) pieces.
