The global bond sell-off is deepening, with US Treasury yields hitting their highest levels in more than two decades. The pressure is spreading across major markets, with yields also surging in Japan, Germany, France and the UK, while higher oil prices continue to add another layer of inflation risk and make the outlook for bonds even more uncertain.

The White House and major AI leaders are leaning toward self-regulation rather than stricter government oversight, with Trump calling the industry’s voluntary AI agreement “morally binding” and signaling continued support for rapid development. The push comes as concerns over rogue AI behavior and safety grow, creating a balancing act for Big Tech between capturing the enormous economic opportunity from AI while addressing increasingly visible risks.

Meta just had its best month since ChatGPT launched in late 2022, with shares jumping 27% in September as investors grow increasingly excited about its AI push. The company is betting on a roughly $70 billion reset focused on brands like Jeep and Ram, more investment and better execution, while giving customers more choice across its 14-brand lineup.

SpaceX’s Nasdaq-100 weighting has more than doubled to 2.82%, meaning its performance will now have a bigger impact not only on QQQ but also on popular covered-call ETFs like JEPQ, QQQI, GPIQ, QDTE and TDAQ.

There’s a growing concern that public-market investors are missing out because companies like SpaceX, OpenAI, and Anthropic are creating enormous value before they even go public. However, this piece reminds investors that while private markets can produce huge winners, access is limited and most startups fail, so public-market ETFs still offer a much more reliable way to participate in innovation without having to pick the handful of private companies that become the next giants.
