Superhero of the Month
As the fires subsided, David Bailey led Region 13’s effort to distribute replacement equipment. He started a GoFundMe and filled his living room with shoes, shin guards, workout clothes, and backpacks. On the Friday before the first All-Star game, he personally delivered kits to families in their hotels, because, as he said in his characteristic, self-effacing good humor, “It was, literally, the least I could do to help.”
Equipment for Families Impacted by the Eaton Fire
Region 13 soccer families will be recovering from the fire for years to come. If you need any replacement soccer gear, Region 13 can help. You can indicate that on your player registration form, fill out this form at ayso13.org/eaton, or reply to this email. AYSO can supply socks, shoes, shin guards, coach/referee gear, etc.
Need a soccer ball? Stop by the clubhouse at 711 W Woodbury, Unit E, Altadena. Take a ball or leave a ball in the bin outside the door..
Summer Soccer Camp Opportunity
Legacy FC offers summer soccer camps at Victory Park during the weeks of June 23 and July 21, free for low-income and fire-affected families.
How You Can Help (Board Members Needed)
You are cordially invited to join the Region 13 Board. Have a look at the open Board positions on the Region 13 Leadership page and reach out is you can help.
A few roles are highlighted below:
Partnering with Schools
We are also seeking School Liaisons to help connect soccer families and strengthen relationships. This role doesn’t involve a lot of work, just a willingness to help us connect with the right people at your kids’ school. Our goal is to sign up more soccer players, more youth referees, and build partnerships. If you’re a parent at a PUSD, LAUSD, LCF, charter, or private school playing in Region 13, contact us at rc@ayso13.org.
Thank You, La Cañada Flintridge Families
As many of you are aware, the La Cañada City Council recently held discussions about access to the city's fields for various sports. While Region 13 was initially denied access, a recent appeal granted us use of the High School JV baseball and softball fields. As the only lit field in La Cañada, these are particularly vital to our soccer teams. We’d like to give a big shout-out to the many La Cañada families who shared their support for AYSO—it made a huge difference.
Congrats Tournament Teams

Region 13 teams have had an active spring competing in tournaments across Southern California. At the Glendale Legends Cup, our Girls 10U and 14U teams earned strong 2nd place finishes, and in the Boys division, our 12U Area and Sectional teams won the championship in their respective flights. Meanwhile, our Girls 12U Rose City Tigers won their pool and placed 3rd in the Highlander Tournament in Upland—Go Region 13!

Letter from the Commissioner
Hi ⚽️ Families,
Part of my job as your commissioner is to be the face of Region 13. In this role, I attended multiple La Cañada commission and council meetings in the past month, and I had the privilege of listening to a number of you share personal stories about why you support AYSO and the huge value that our program has to you and your children. It was a humbling experience, listening to Michael, Natalie, Kim, Simon, Sara, Lisa, and all of the others describe the importance of AYSO in their families’ lives. Hearing how parents and kids drove across town and got back home after bedtime, just to play soccer with their teammates. Your stories are the reason that AYSO Region 13 is the wonderful organization that it is, and it makes me proud to work with you toward another great year of soccer and friendships. If you have a story of how Region 13 has made your world brighter, send it to me at rc@ayso13.org. I’m excited for the coming season.
