Contemplative Outreach Pittsburgh 2024 December News We embrace the process of transformation in Christ, both in ourselves and in others, through the practice of Centering Prayer.

Greetings Friends,
Here I sit happy in the thought that you may be reading this, during Advent 2024. Together we anticipate an ancient celebration of our vital human connection to the divine. Connection is most perfectly suggested to us by peering into the Nativity Scene. The Creche pauses us to remember and imagine what is beckoning us into the New Year.
The Contemplative Outreach Service Team is planning events for 2025 . These endeavors will further our journey together. Our path leads towards “Oneness: Unity in Contemplation” as described by Fr. Thomas in 2008. Our growth has been monumental and there is much to celebrate! Our Community lives “the wisdom of the contemplative path through faith that is active in love”.
“Oneness” will be our focus to celebrate our 4oth Anniversary in 2028. For now, I ask that you place on your list of things to do, to look at the flourishing diversity of our contemplatives! You can see examples by scheduling time to view the 58-minute YouTube recently released. It is from the Annual Conference this fall. Follow the LINK to the Young Contemplatives: (are) Widening the Circle !
The Team also is looking forward to transitioning the Service Team. We currently approach the end of the recommended 3 years term for Chapter Leadership. You are invited to share in the efforts. There is so much to say! When I become confounded about anything, I have learned to take a momentary pause, an imperceptible bow, and say “Thank You”. It seems to settle me into the peaceful awareness of the present moment and most profoundly the eternally abiding presence of God.
This gratitude behavior, I have learned is a guardrail for me to remain centered toward the Ultimate Reality. Two other behaviors have developed and I enjoy. They are stewardship and service. As Coordinator of our Pittsburgh Chapter, I cherish the opportunity for community, stewardship and service.
I, along with our Service Team members Christean Volz, Peg Joyce, Nancy Bearer and Wiltrud Fassbinder extend our prayers and wishes for your blessings this Christmas Season. Merry Christmas and Happy New Years! Thank you and the Contemplative Outreach family the world over.

The Contemplative Heart of Unity: A Retreat into Oneness through Centering Prayer In a world where division and disconnection often overshadow our shared humanity, the call to unity has never been more urgent.

Introduction to Centering Prayer January 31 - February 2, 2025 Sourced from the depths of Christian contemplative tradition, Centering Prayer has emerged as a life-changing prayer practice for those who embrace it. Centering Prayer is a receptive method of Christian silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer; prayer in which we experience God’s presence within us, closer than breathing, closer than thinking, closer than consciousness itself. Its purpose is to foster a deeper intimacy with Christ through the silence and stillness of contemplative prayer.
