Playoffs, Parent Survey, Winter Series, and Holiday Soccer Camps!

That's a Wrap!

Congrats on the completion of a very successful Fall Soccer Program! AYSO Region 13 would like to thank the 800+ volunteers who gave their time, energy, and expertise to make the 2022 Fall Program a success for its players, parents, coaches, and referees. In case you missed the Award Ceremony and Holiday Dinner earlier this month, take a look at this years AYSO Region 13 Wall of Fame

A big congrats to all teams who participated in this year's playoffs, and a special shout out to the teams who won their division! Here's a complete list of the winning teams:

All of the Playoff Champions had an opportunity to play in the Area Play through tournament. The G10U, Fantastic Foxes, coached by Coach Vallisneri and Jacqueline Buchanan won their division in the Area play through tournament and will represent Region 13 in March in the Section tournament Coach Vallisneri said that the girls made friends through soccer and are now all BFFs. The B12U team coached by Coach Lee-Miller earned 2nd place in the Area Play through tournament! Congrats teams!

Region 13 wants to hear from you! Please take a few minutes to answer this quick post-season survey - let us know what worked and what should be improved.

What's next?

If you're ready to try something different, we're fortunate to be neighbors to many other great sports clubs, most of which start registering players around now. You'll see many of the same AYSO players and volunteer coaches playing softball and baseball with Little League and PONY League. Those games start in March, about when All-Stars and Grad Series end. Girls can and do play baseball, by the way. If you already know how to ice skate, check out Li'l Kings hockey in Pasadena for kids 5-9, wherein the NHL provides all the equipment, to keep! Hockey may be the sport that most welcomes girls and boys to play together. Lacrosse is gaining in popularity, as well as Flag Football. Basketball goes year-round, and you'll find a league at just about every recreational center, including Foothill Hoops.
For individual sports, there's TennisWrestling, and Swimming. If you're looking for the most laid-back, no commitment recreation, try the new pickleball courts in La Cañada.
There's much more. We've linked to a few programs with similar philosophies to AYSO - positive coaching, everyone plays, balanced teams, and player development. The costs are similar to Region 13 soccer, and you can register as an individual player, not as a team. If we missed any, let us know to include them in a future newsletter.

Winter Soccer Camps

Evolve Soccer (a Region 13 sponsor) is holding a Winter Camp December 26-30 for half-day or full-day.

Launch Sports has morning and full-day camps over winter vacation.

A Message from the Commisioner

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to all! This has been a truly rewarding season for everyone. The memories and friends our children have made on and off the soccer field will be one for the books. I want to thank all of the volunteers who came together, working tirelessly to make the season possible for the players. Thank you to all of the board members that work behind the scenes to make Region 13 work. The next time you see a coach, referee, team manager, or Region 13 board member please say "Thank you for all you do!"
