Career ResourcesNew and existing 1-on-1 support opportunities
In the past month, a few organizations in the EA career advising space posted significant updates; you can find more of those updates further below, but here are some opportunities for high-impact career advising for now: - Magnify Mentoring - offering mentoring for women, non-binary, and trans people pursuing high-impact career paths (but apply by June 25th!)
- Probably Good - recently offering advising for those looking to do more good in accordance with their values
- Successif - recently rebranded, offering advising for mid-career and senior professionals
- 80,000 Hours - one of the originals, offering 1-1 advising to explore how to do more for humanity and the future
- Effective Thesis - offering advising for students and theses (from undergraduate to doctoral)

EA NYC SubgroupsSubgroup Updates Policy and Law: We're excited to announce that the Legal Subgroup will now be welcoming policy professionals as well! So whether you're working in litigation or a policy think tank, we hope the group provides a common background for discussion and connection! Express interest in joining future meetups here. Subgroup facilitation and volunteering: In other news, most groups are meeting fairly regularly now! As these communities continue to develop, they will increasingly need organizational support. External events You can join many events in the broader EA community online! Here are a few below:External NYC Events- June 26, 1 - 6:30: NYU Workshop on Animal and AI Consciousness
- This Workshop will feature award-winning presentations from early-career scholars working on topics related to animal and AI consciousness from multidisciplinary perspectives, as well as a talk by Syd Johnson. There will be tea/coffee and light vegan refreshments. Register here.
- Recurring: The EA for Jews Shabbat Dinner Program
- This program is a way for people to come together over a Shabbat meal to connect with new people and explore topics relevant to effective altruism and Jewish tradition. Hosts are provided with funding and resources to run the dinner. All are welcome, whether Jewish or not Jewish, new to EA, or highly engaged! If you’re interested in attending or hosting an in-person dinner in your city please fill out this super quick form!

Fellowships and programs
EA Virtual Programs
Virtual programs on EA topics: A new round of EA Virtual Programs will run from July 31 - September 24. These free 8-week courses cover topics in effective altruism and require around a 3-hour commitment per week. They include the Introductory Program, the In-Depth Program, and the Precipice Reading Group. Apply by July 16th.
AI Safety Fundamentals: Governance
The BlueDot Impact team will be starting a 12 week AI Governance Fellowship in August. The free, online course will cover foundational knowledge for doing research or policy work on the governance of transformative AI (TAI): future AI systems with impacts at least as profound as those of the industrial revolution. Apply by June 25th.
EA for Jews
EA for Jews will be running another round of the EA and Judaism Intro Fellowship this July! It will be a 4-week virtual program you can do alongside school or work that explores the core ideas of effective altruism and their relationship to Jewish tradition, texts, culture, and history.

Updates on Existing Organizations and their ProjectsCareer support
- Magnify Mentoring has re-opened mentee applications until June 25th for women, non-binary, and trans people of any gender who are enthusiastic about pursuing high-impact career paths. On average, mentees and mentors meet once a month for 60-90 minutes. You can find out more here and apply here!
- Successif (fka EA Pathfinders) posted an update on how they can help mid-career and senior professionals have impactful careers

EA community building- Leaf is an independent nonprofit supporting exceptional (pre-university) teenagers to explore how they can best improve the world
Forecasting and news- Sage released Fatebook, a new Slack bot to help with tracking forecasts
- The Confido Institute released the Confido app to help the public make forecasts on their internal teams
- Actually Relevant is a news website trying to focus on important stories and updates for humanity.
Charity Entrepreneurship
- Charity Entrepreneurship started offering a new foundation program
- They also made a prediction market for their top new charity ideas
- They also presented their newest charity incubatees (as well as two other new organizations)
- Animal Policy International - Ensuring animal welfare standards are upheld in international trade policy
- Ansh - Empowering mothers to save newborn lives by building healthcare capacity for adoption of Kangaroo Care
- Healthy Futures Global - Preventing mother-to-child transmission of syphilis through testing and treatment
- HealthLearn - Providing the world’s best online training to health workers in developing countries
- The Mission Motor will support potentially high-impact animal and vegan advocacy charities to adopt an evidence-driven way of working
- Upstream Policies collaborates closely with state-level policy makers, angler associations, and NGOs to safeguard our waterways and their natural ecosystems by promoting responsible fishing practices
Animal Welfare- Peter Singer released Animal Liberation Now, a new book based on a substantially updated version of one of his classics
