August is when everything falls into place!
Coaches, referees, and managers are completing online training, attending in-person courses, and finishing background checks. Thank you to everyone for putting in the work to make soccer happen!
If you’re a coach or referee still needing to complete training, there are a number of courses happening right here in Region 13. You can also complete your training with another local region in the area.
Here’s a list of upcoming courses by Region 13 and how to find other local Training Events.
Coaches are now receiving team rosters for the Fall season, then will be reaching out to families to confirm participation and schedule pre-season meetings. If you haven't heard from your coach by Monday, please reach out to your division administrator.
California Law says evey player (and parent) needs to sign a Concussion and Sudden Cardiac Arrest form, in ink, on paper. Print the forms at ayso13.org/forms. Your coach or team manager will get a link to upload pictures of the signed forms. Go ahead and write multiple kids' names on one page.
Practices start after September 5 and games kick off on Saturday, September 9.
4U & 5U last for 8 weeks. 6U - 8U finish the week before Thanksgiving. 10U - 14U have playoffs after Thanksgiving week.
As a friendly reminder to parents, players will need a soccer ball, shin guards, and a water bottle. Cleats are optional. What size soccer ball does your child need? See the age chart. Other questions? Come to the Open House!
TUESDAY, AUG 22

6pm: Shoe Exchange & Open House: meet the Region leadership and ask questions

All members are invited to the Region 13 clubhouse from 6 - 7 pm for an open house and soccer shoe exchange. At 7 pm, region board members will lead an orientation to AYSO and what you can expect in the upcoming season. Kids are welcome (especially to try on shoes) but they will probably be bored.
Bring your old shoes, and leave with someone else's old shoes! You can also drop off old shoes outside the clubhouse door anytime.

NEXT is a new program for 10U, 12U, and 14U players looking to level up during the fall core program. In addition to playing with their regular Core team, you'll play friendly games with other enthusiastic kids on Sundays, and compete in AYSO tournaments throughout SoCal. This is an informal program, so any fully certified coach can draft ad-hoc teams from a pool of players as schedules allow, at any skill level. If you want to get some friends together to challenge another school, this is for you! NEXT will inspire dedicated players to strengthen bonds with teammates, challenge themselves in competitive tournaments, and deepen their love for the game.

I hope that you all have had a great summer and are settling in to the new school year! I’d like to express my appreciation and give thanks to all the volunteers who have been hard at work preparing for the fall season as well as those who have volunteered to coach, referee, manage a team, or just help out in our Region. It is because of volunteers like you that AYSO Region 13 is able to work and provide soccer to thousands of kids.
If you have not yet volunteered, there's still time to sign up. Region 13 has made several family-friendly changes to help make it easier for you to volunteer, and it’s a great way to stay involved in your kids' lives.
In a few short weeks, our season will start and all the work that you've been doing is going to pay off - our kids will be playing some soccer. Win, lose, or draw, in the end what's important is that our kids are playing and that they have fun! I wish you all a good season!
Terry
