• Rethink Priorities just released a compilation of months' worth of work on expected value under uncertainty. The sequence explores ideas like the conditions for prioritizing global health, animal welfare, or x-risk, provides insights on prioritization itself and thinking about specific uncertainties, and showcases a brand new tool for comparing interventions with different kinds of uncertainties.

As 2023 comes to a close, the EA community has prepared some resources for donors looking to give before the new year.

Events
EA NYC will host a few events on this theme, including panels from effective giving meta-charities and local NYC community members as well as a special community celebration centered around the occasion!

EA Forum curation
You can also check out the EA Forum for some special updates in honor of the giving season - check out their "Giving Portal" for the overview. Aside from the permanent "effective giving" topic page, new helpful resources (will) include:

Aside from our three giving-themed events, EA NYC will host a couple more special programs before the year's end.

EA Career Weekend 2023
EA NYC is looking forward to our first-ever, two-day career intensive on December 16th and 17th! The EA Career Weekend will feature presentations, workshops, coaching, and more to help individuals plan for immediate follow-ups and long-term career paths.

The event will be tailored for mid-career professionals, but we think the content will be valuable in helping participants of any experience level come away with concrete action plans and practical next steps.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis through November 25th, and there will be a sliding scale for ticket pricing. Apply here!

EA NYC End-of-Year Celebration
Whether you plan to join the EA Career Weekend or not, all are welcome to help us welcome the new year together at our Community End-of-Year Celebration! Final call for EAGxVirtual 2023
Don't miss your chance to join the free, online conference this weekend! EAGxVirtual 2023 will run from November 17th through 19th and feature opportunities to learn from experts, build connections, and more deeply explore the movement. Admissions are open until tomorrow (November 16th). Apply here!

EA Global Conferences in 2024
The Centre for Effective Altruism also recently announced its plans for EAG conferences next year, along with a significant update.

EAG Bay Area: Global Catastrophic Risks will be the first EA Global conference tailored to a specific theme. Running from February 2 - 4, the event will be most valuable to participants working on AI risks, biosecurity, and other global catastrophic risks, as well as relevant cross-cause areas such as work in policy and community building. Regardless of background, all are still welcome to apply here.

EAG London 2024 will be a "more traditional" EA Global conference with about 50% of the event's content focused on material other than AI / Global Catastrophic Risks. As with all EAG conferences, participants will have ample opportunities for networking and building connections with the other attendees. Apply here to join the conference from May 31 - June 2.
