I then added a portfolio of luxury hotels and
experiences that visitors could enjoy with discounts that I was able to
negotiate. Now the site has a local and international following and is written
in German and English.
Instagram worth following: I love the photographs of Pernilla
@lifestylemallorca and Ana Lui
@analuiphotographs. Both have such an amazing eye for photography and
offer a picture perfect image of Mallorca.
Favourite place to swim: love to swim in my home town of Port de Sóller, but when I venture out I head
to the coves and small beaches of
St Elm in the south west as the water is
always so clear there or north to the small beach of
Mal Pas –
Sant Pere just
outside the old town of Alcudia.
A place worth eating at: Can Karlito in Sóller is a special place. A friendly welcome and traditional food
served with a modern twist from the Scandinavian owners. In the Port of Soller
Es Canyis has a long history of service, now into the third generation, offering
delicious food and the views are pretty good too!
When I am in Palma shopping around Mercat de l ´Olivar, I have lunch at
COR
Barra i Taula. Delicious flavours and always something new to try.
Who is making a product we should know about: The area around Capdepera’s is where the palmito, the Mediterranean fan
palm grows. These palms are dried, woven and braided into products, the most
popular of course being the señala or shopping bag that you see used by locals
and now adapted with leather straps for beach bags sold across the island. The
favourite place to buy one is
Mimbrería Vidal on Carrer de la Corderia, Palma.
Best month of the year on Mallorca: like May, the start of the season, not too busy on the island but warm enough to
have a swim in the sea with the anticipation of long lazy days ahead . I also love
December. The festive lights in Palma and across the island are just magical
and most years we wear just a t-shirt on Christmas Day !
What is one other secret/great tip about Mallorca that you'd like to share with our readers: Mallorca is open 12 months of the year !
Summer can be very busy on the island. Why not enjoy Mallorca in the quieter
months with much lower hotel rates, discounts and room upgrades using the
exclusive promo codes on my website
MallorcanTonic.com.
I have written over 150 blogs on the website which gives a wealth of information
about things to do on the island away from the beach. How about a walk in the
Tramuntana mountains ? Or immerse yourself in Mallorca’s viticulture by
visiting one of the many vineyards, or enjoy an olive oil tasting, shop for
ceramics in Portol or visit the Caves of Drach. Have a little look and I am sure
your will discover something you did not know about Mallorca.
