November was a busy month, with meeting my three-month old niece (picture below!), spending time with family, doing an escape room and a game day, plus school craziness and drawing class! I've also been hard at work on the (hopefully) final revision of the sequel. I knew it would be a push to finish revisions by December, so I made a schedule of how much work I needed to do each day and did my best to stick to it. Additionally, I got much stricter with my morning routine (earlier alarm, less time lounging in bed) and made better use of my afternoons and evenings.
And it paid off! I didn't technically finish in November (I needed the first two days of December to finish up the final touches and two more to get it prepped and sent to beta readers) but I did finish before the December newsletter went out, so it counts! After months of working, revisions/light edits for the sequel are finally done, and the book is in the hands of my next round of beta readers! 🥳

Cuddles with my precious niece!

Now that the current edit/revision of the sequel is finally done, I have a bit of time to get to some other to-do list items, namely, cover art! I have already made an order for the sequel cover, but I still need to fill out the brief and provide reference photos, so that will occupy the first few weeks of December. I also plan to spend some time beta reading for some fellow writers, as I have been neglecting their projects these past few months!
Aside from that, I imagine I'll be fairly busy getting ready for Christmas, so I'm going to keep the goals for this month light and then get back into focus mode come January.
With the new year just around the corner, you can expect a bigger update in my next newsletter reviewing progress made in 2024 and my goals for 2025, including a revised timeline for the sequel's release and a title reveal! You can also expect this newsletter to be late, as I'll be with my family over the Christmas break and likely won't prioritize the newsletter until I am back home. But rest assured, it will come!

Reading: I'm just about finished my first ever traditional western (one of the books in Louis L'Amour Sackett series, courtesy of my dad) which has been quite a fun and interesting read.
I also started into a reread of the Chronicles of Prydain, one of my all time favourite series growing up. I haven't read it for years now, and I got such a strong hankering for it I couldn't resist pulling it off the shelf!

Thank You and Merry Christmas!
December can be a crazy month, with Christmas celebrations and shopping and preparations for the season stuffing every spare moment of the calendar, but I hope you all find moments of stillness and calm amidst the business. My prayer for you is that your hearts are filled with love, joy, and the special peace that makes this time of year so special. May your holidays be merry and bright!
For your bonus kitty pictures this month, I've shared a typical sequence during my writing times. When I'm in deep focus mode, I try to keep Kaylee from advancing to my side of the couch. She then proceeds to creep closer one inch at a time until she's right beside me!
First, one little paw crosses the line. (The picture is zoomed in, but she's farther away than she looks.)
Then a little chin joins the paw.
The paw stretches out innocently in my direction...
And suddenly a whole cat is lying right beside me!
